A personal note from Chef Chris & Darcy

A personal note from Chef Chris & Darcy. Chris and I have been struggling since Hurricane Helene hit WNC. It's still HOME for both us. Many of you don't know that Chris grew up in Rutherford County, NC. He spent his life in Rutherfordton, Chimney Rock, and Asheville playing sports and working at local restaurants. When I graduated from GW I moved to Boone, NC and started at ASU before transferring to Hendersonville, NC for horticulture. We met at a restaurant, The Purple Onion, in Saluda, NC. We started growing our own food when we lived in East Asheville before stepping up our game to start our first CSA in Weaverville, NC all while working at local restaurants and at The North Carolina Arboretum. Since meeting, our passion has always been about growing and sharing great food with our community. We have been itching to run away to feed our friends and family that are still there and be hands on to help but have been waiting for the right time. Since we can't just take off from our jobs (feeding you guys) we found another way to participate. Chris's family has been trucking supplies into areas that are in desperate need and we want to collect donations to take to them. Can you help us fill a truck with what has been requested? Bottled water Wipes Hand Sanitizer Feminine products Food that doesn't need to be cooked (Ex. Pop top Chef Boyardee, Pop Top Canned Soup) Blankets Flashlights/Batteries/Candles We will be taking donations October 8th-12th. You can drop of on Broad St patio before restaurant opens or during business hours inside. Chris will be delivering the week of October 14th.
